Westchester Magazine Features RAW in Fall Preview

Image 1Even if your kids don’t like dance performances, chances are they’ll like this one. Just in time for Halloween, The Grisly Kids—a variety-show-style collaboration between the Rivertown Artists Workshop (RAW), Pace Conservatory of Dance, and the acclaimed Riedel Dance Theater—takes its inspiration from Edward Gorey, Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Joss Whedon, and other macabre favorites. It’ll be paired with Jonathan Reidel’s equally twisted The Unsightful Nanny. The event takes place over multiple weekends in Sleepy Hollow, which is the perfect place to perform anything darkly mysterious at that time of year, when you think about it.

From the mischievous minds who brought you Ukranian Eggs: Terrible Tales of Tragedy and Allegory — the Riedel Dance Theater will present a revue of macabre and comedic dances.   Titled The Grisly Kids this variety show format of dance/theater takes its inspiration from stories by Stephen King, graphic novels by Neil Gaiman, and television shows by Joss Whedon with something twisted and delightful for all ages: sparring twins, a picnic of doom;  a girl going mad before finals, a corps de ballet of menacing tweens.   The show will take the audience for a thrill-ride of laughs and horror.
